Party dismisses Raji’s non-cooperation allegation as false, challenges Adeleke’s camp to provide evidence of efforts to secure APC leaders’ support

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly rejected allegations that its leaders are refusing to cooperate with Governor Ademola Adeleke in efforts to secure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election, describing the claims as false, misplaced and unsupported by evidence.
In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by the Osun APC Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, the party reaffirmed its commitment to President Tinubu’s re-election bid, declaring that securing victory for the President remains a major political priority for its members and supporters across the state.
The party’s reaction followed comments attributed to Muniru Adebayo Raji, a Special Adviser to Governor Adeleke, during a radio interview in Osogbo on Monday. Raji reportedly accused APC leaders in Osun of failing to cooperate with the governor in the collective effort to deliver the state’s projected 1.5 million votes for President Tinubu.
The APC chairman dismissed the allegation, questioning whether Governor Adeleke had formally invited the party’s leadership to a meeting on the presidential campaign and whether any such invitation had been rejected.
Lawal also challenged Raji to provide evidence that APC leaders had frustrated any genuine effort by the governor to secure their cooperation. He suggested that the allegation was an attempt to shift responsibility for the political challenges surrounding the proposed campaign arrangement.
The party further disputed Raji’s claim that Governor Adeleke had commenced grassroots mobilisation for President Tinubu’s re-election across towns and villages in Osun State. According to the APC, there had been no public campaign appearance by the governor for Tinubu since his participation in the inauguration of the presidential campaign committee in Abuja the previous week.
Beyond rejecting the allegations, the Osun APC chairman pointed to what he described as challenges within the governor’s own political camp, particularly the reported reluctance of some Accord Party members to align with Adeleke’s position on the presidential election.
The APC maintained that it was prepared to make necessary political concessions to secure victory for Tinubu and other party candidates contesting national and state legislative seats in the forthcoming elections.
Describing the President as the party’s national leader and a figure whose re-election is central to its political interests, Lawal insisted that the Osun APC was not treating the presidential contest with levity.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is our father whose political victory in the forthcoming presidential election is our topmost priority in the State of the Virtuous,” the chairman declared.
The exchange underscores the emerging political tensions surrounding efforts to coordinate support for Tinubu’s re-election in Osun State, where questions of party loyalty, cross-party cooperation and grassroots mobilisation could shape the campaign.
