Tinubu Took The Hard Road: Nigerians Are Beginning To See The Results – Osun APC Chair, Lawal

…Says Nigeria Will Remember Him For The Courage To Reform, Rebuild, Renew*

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, has described the economic and institutional reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as bold steps that are laying the foundation for a stronger, more resilient and prosperous Nigeria.

According to Lawal, the development recorded across key sectors of the Nigerian economy shows that the Tinubu administration is confronting some of the country’s long-standing challenges with courage, rather than simply passing them on to future generations.

He cited the reported 4.43 per cent year-on-year economic growth in the second quarter of 2026, described as the highest in five years; the rise in foreign reserves to $54.61 billion; the ₦20.15 trillion trade surplus; and the 67.9 per cent increase in the current account to $7.54 billion, describing these figures as important indicators that the economy is gradually responding to ongoing reforms.

Lawal also highlighted the reported $2.6 billion in foreign investment attracted through mining reforms, Nigeria’s return to the J.P. Morgan Global Bond Index after 11 years, increased electricity generation, expanded funding for nurses and midwives, housing interventions, and the Federal Government’s efforts to clear pension liabilities owed to former PHCN workers.

In Lawal’s words: “These are not merely figures on paper. They represent steps towards rebuilding confidence in our economy and strengthening our institutions.

“Of course, challenges remain, and Nigerians have every right to demand more from government. But responsible leadership also requires us to acknowledge measurable progress when it occurs,” the Osun State APC chairman said.

He maintained that one of President Tinubu’s defining contributions could ultimately be his willingness to undertake difficult reforms which full benefits may extend beyond the lifespan of the present administration.

“History will judge every government by what it inherited, what it confronted and what it left behind.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has chosen the path of reform, reconstruction and institutional renewal. Nigeria will remember the courage it took him to begin these difficult but necessary changes. The decisions being taken today could become the foundation for a stronger Nigeria tomorrow,” he added.

Lawal urged Nigerians to continue to engage the administration constructively, demand accountability and support policies that advance national development, while recognising genuine progress wherever it is recorded.

He expressed confidence that with consistency, patience and effective implementation, the ongoing reforms can translate into greater economic opportunities, improved infrastructure, stronger institutions and a better quality of life for Nigerians.
