Ile-Ife.
In recent days, I have watched with keen interest the wave of calculated propaganda and deliberate public misinformation being pushed by elements within the Accord Party, particularly targeted at one of our foremost leaders, Dr Christopher Iyiola Omisore. Quite frankly, these narratives are not only weak in substance but also insulting to the intelligence of the people of Osun State, especially those of us in Ifeland who understand our political history.
It is no longer news that Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) has emerged as the duly elected governorship candidate of the APC. His emergence was not by chance, but through a credible Process that reflects the will of party members and elders across the state. From the very beginning, it has been clear that the APC is gaining momentum, and nowhere is this more evident than in Ifeland, a region known for its political consciousness and independence.
Let me be clear: Otunba Christopher Iyiola Omisore remains a progressive to the core. He is a seasoned politician, a respected statesman, and a key voice within the Agba Osun caucus. His loyalty to the progressive fold is not something that can be shaken by cheap propaganda or political speculation. It is built on years of experience, sacrifice, and ideological consistency.
But one must ask: do the Adelekes really expect Senator Omisore to abandon his own party for their sinking ship? Do they think our leader will so quickly forget how he was treated and even threatened by the Adeleke political family in 2014? Do they believe he has forgotten how Ademola Adeleke betrayed him politically, an action that led him to the SDP during the 2018 Osun State gubernatorial election? And how that same journey eventually brought him back into the progressive fold through a coalition with the APC? History is not something that can be rewritten overnight.
Those attempting to distort facts must first come to terms with this reality: politics is built on memory, experience, and trust. The trajectory of Otunba Omisore is deeply rooted in these principles. To suggest that a man of such depth and political relevance would act against his own convictions is not only unrealistic, it is politically naive.
Beyond personalities, the electoral history of Ifeland tells a clear and consistent story. In 2018, Omisore, under the SDP, dominated the votes in Ifeland while APC came Second with encouraging votes, Adeleke in distant third. By the 2022 Osun State gubernatorial election, the APC had taken firm control of the region. This dominance was further reinforced during the 2023 Nigerian presidential election, where the APC delivered convincingly for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu across Ile-Ife and its surrounding communities.
These are not coincidences, they are the result of structure, strategy, and strong grassroots connection. Ifeland is not swayed by noise; it is guided by informed political decisions and tested leadership.
It is also important to acknowledge that the strength of the APC in Ifeland goes beyond one individual. Leaders like Babajide Omoworare, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, Hon. Taofeeq Ajilesoro, Engr. Benjamin Adereti, and several other committed stakeholders continue to provide direction and mobilization across all local governments. Their combined efforts, alongside the dedication of party faithful and Local Government council leadership, have built a formidable political structure that cannot be easily shaken.
The Adeleke-led administration must come to terms with the reality on ground. Governance is about performance, and many Osun citizens are already expressing dissatisfaction in key sectors. No amount of propaganda or character attacks can cover the widening gap between promises and delivery.
In conclusion, the people of Ifeland are not easily deceived. They understand their history, they recognize true leadership, and they make decisions based on facts, not fiction. With leaders like Christopher Iyiola Omisore firmly rooted in the APC and a united front across the party, the path ahead is clear.
Victory is not just possible—it is assured.
