Victor Alalade Halts Campaign, Cancels Food Program in Last Respect to Oba Famodun

In a powerful and personal move, Osun State political figure Victor Alalade has suspended all his political activities to mourn the passing of the 30th Owa of Igbajo, Oba Phillip Adegboyega Famodun. The decision, announced in a deeply emotional statement, underscores the profound impact of the monarch’s death, which Alalade described as a “deep wound inflicted by death upon the soul of Osun State.”

Alalade revealed the loss was profoundly personal, citing shared familial ties with the late Oba. He eulogized him as a great icon whose wisdom was critically needed, making his passing a devastating personal setback. To honour the revered memory of Oba Famodun, Alalade has taken two significant steps. He has directed his Campaign Team to immediately halt all political content in his name from Tuesday, December 2nd, to Thursday, December 4th, 2024. Furthermore, in a move that directly impacts community engagement, he has personally appealed to his political associates under the “DEEGOV VOLUNTEERS” to shelve their planned free Food Distribution across Boluwaduro. This event, previously scheduled for the 8th and 9th of December, will be rescheduled to a later date as a definitive mark of respect for the departed father and king.

Alalade acknowledged the void left by the Oba’s passing but chose to find solace in the “magnificent and fulfilled life” he lived, a life dedicated to service, community, and progress. The statement concluded with a prayer for the monarch’s gentle soul to find eternal rest and for the community to be granted the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss. This gesture is being seen not just as a political formality, but as a sincere and respectful homage from a son of the soil to a departed king.
