The Integrity Group of Osun State has described the recent statement by Governor Ademola Adeleke’s spokesperson on school security and refurbished armoured vehicles as a desperate attempt to divert public attention from the glaring failures of the current administration in securing lives and property across the state.

In a statement issued by the Director of Media of the group, Hon. Ismail Alade Iwa, and signed by the State Chairman, Ambassador Salam Mustapha Olamilekan, the group said it was unfortunate that after more than three years in office, the Adeleke administration still finds comfort in excuses, propaganda, and attacks on political opponents rather than addressing the genuine concerns of Osun people.

According to the group, leadership is not measured by the number of press statements issued or political opponents blamed, but by the ability to provide security, improve the welfare of citizens, and deliver meaningful development. The group noted that the continuous habit of blaming previous administrations has become a convenient excuse for the failures of the current government.

The Integrity Group questioned why it took the Adeleke administration several years to suddenly remember the armoured vehicles it now claims to have refurbished if security was truly a priority. Security, the group maintained, requires proactive planning, strategic investment, and continuous action, not emergency public relations responses whenever public criticism mounts.

The group further noted that while the state government celebrates the rehabilitation of inherited equipment, APC local government chairmen have taken practical and measurable steps to strengthen security by providing 90 motorcycles and 30 Hilux patrol vehicles to security agencies across the state. This intervention, according to the group, demonstrates a stronger commitment to public safety than the endless rhetoric emanating from the state government.

“These motorcycles and patrol vehicles are not mere headlines; they are operational tools that enhance surveillance, improve rapid response capabilities, and support security personnel in protecting lives and property. This is the kind of leadership and practical intervention that Osun people expect from those entrusted with public office,” the statement added.

The group therefore challenged Governor Adeleke to focus more on governance and less on political propaganda, asking why APC-controlled local governments are visibly supporting security agencies while the state government appears more concerned with image management and self-congratulation.

The Integrity Group concluded that Osun people deserve a government driven by action, competence, and accountability. No amount of propaganda can conceal what the group described as the growing failure of the Adeleke administration to meet the expectations of the people. History, the group stated, will judge leaders not by the press statements they issue but by the results they deliver and the impact they make on the lives of citizens.
