…As Sooko Tajudeen Lawal Urges Party Media Operatives to Uphold Truth, Credibility and Public Engagement Ahead of 2026 Governorship Election
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ife Federal Constituency has reaffirmed its commitment to responsible political engagement and issue-based communication following a media seminar organised by Hon. David Awotipe, a member of the constituency campaign committee. The gathering brought together party media stakeholders from across the federal constituency to deliberate on the role of effective communication in strengthening democracy and advancing public enlightenment.
The seminar attracted participants from Ife East, Ife Central, Ife South, and Ife North Local Governments, as well as from the Ife East Area Office in Modakeke. It provided a platform for robust discussions on information management, public engagement, ethical communication, and the increasing importance of credible information in contemporary political activities.
Speaking at the event, Hon. David Awotipe emphasised the need for professionalism, discipline, and factual reporting among party communicators. He noted that public confidence is built on consistency, integrity, and the ability to communicate truthfully with the people, stressing that political communication must always serve the public interest.
According to Awotipe, the responsibility of media stakeholders extends beyond political advocacy to ensuring that citizens are properly informed about issues that affect their daily lives. He urged participants to remain focused on promoting constructive engagement and projecting the vision of the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), through responsible, people-centred communication.
Declaring the seminar open, the Director-General of the Ife Federal Constituency Campaign Committee, Hon. Wale Ojo, described information as one of the most valuable instruments in modern political engagement. He stressed the need for party members to remain united, focused, and committed to enlightening the electorate on issues shaping the future of Osun State, expressing confidence in the growing acceptance of the APC across the state.
In his goodwill message, the Osun State APC Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, underscored the strategic role of the media in sustaining democratic values and strengthening the bond between leaders and citizens. He described the media as a critical institution that informs the public, promotes healthy debate, and serves as a bridge between government and the governed.
Lawal further charged participants to utilise their various platforms responsibly by promoting factual information, encouraging civic participation, and resisting the spread of misinformation. He maintained that the credibility of any political movement depends largely on its ability to communicate honestly and engage citizens meaningfully on issues that matter to them.
Delivering the first training session, the Osun State APC Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, challenged participants to embrace issue-based advocacy and uphold the highest standards of professionalism. He noted that citizens depend on credible information to make informed political decisions and emphasised the media’s constitutional responsibility to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance through objective scrutiny of public policies and leadership performance.
The second training session was conducted by Hon. Miftau Adekunmi, Head of Print Media, Renew Hope Ambassadors. The seminar featured extensive discussions on contemporary communication trends, digital engagement, public perception management, and democratic participation.
In his closing remarks, Hon. Awotipe appreciated party leaders, resource persons, and participants for their commitment to the programme, noting that the seminar formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the capacity of party communicators and build a more informed, responsive, and people-oriented political structure across. He emphasised that all trainees are to work in support of the Ife Federal Constituency and the Osun State Campaign Media Committee.
The training ended with group photographs.
