The Executive Chairman of Ilesa East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Olanrewaju Balogun, has firmly dismissed reports alleging that he has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) or entered into what some political observers described as an “unholy alliance” with the Accord Party and Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
Balogun, while reacting to the rumours circulating in some political circles, described the claims as false, malicious, and intended to create unnecessary tension within the APC family ahead of the forthcoming August election.
The council chairman maintained that he remains a loyal and committed member of the APC, stressing that he has no reason to abandon the party that has shaped his political journey and ideology.
“I am a bona fide member of the All Progressives Congress, and I remain steadfast in my commitment to the party. The allegation that I have defected or aligned myself with the Accord Party and Governor Ademola Adeleke is completely false and unfounded,” he stated.
According to him, his political philosophy is deeply rooted in the progressive ideals championed by the APC, adding that he can never deviate from the principles and values that define the party.
“I am a progressive to the core. I can never depart from the progressive ideology which I have always believed in and promoted throughout my political career,” Balogun said.
The chairman further urged party members and supporters to disregard the rumours, describing them as the handiwork of political detractors seeking to sow seeds of discord among APC faithful.
Reaffirming his confidence in the party’s electoral prospects, Balogun expressed strong optimism that the APC would emerge victorious in the forthcoming August poll. He also declared his unwavering support for the party’s candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen, whom he described as the most qualified candidate to lead the people.
“I have absolute confidence in our great party and our candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen. By the grace of God and with the support of the people, the APC will record a resounding victory in the August election,” he said.
He called on APC members across Ilesa East and Osun State to remain united, focused, and committed to the party’s objectives, noting that unity remains the key to electoral success.
Balogun reiterated that no amount of misinformation or political propaganda would distract him from working for the progress of the APC and ensuring the party’s victory at the polls.
The chairman’s clarification is expected to put an end to speculations surrounding his political allegiance and reassure party supporters of his unwavering loyalty to the APC ahead of the crucial August election.
