*Prince Thomas Ogungbangbe Mourns Owa of Igbajo, Salutes Legacy of a Distinguished Monarch
A leading chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State and frontline aspirant for the Osun East Senatorial District in the 2027 general election, Prince Thomas Olaleye Ogungbangbe, PhD, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of His Royal Highness, Oba Alayeluwa Adegboyega Famodun, the Owa of Igbajo.
In a heartfelt condolence message, Prince Ogungbangbe described the late monarch as “a noble leader whose life radiated honour, discipline, and steadfast commitment to the progress of Osun State.”
He noted that the transition of Oba Famodun is not only a painful loss to Igbajo but a monumental blow to the entire progressive family in Osun State and beyond.
According to him, the late Owa was a custodian of culture who combined royalty with political wisdom, contributing significantly to the growth of the APC during his tenure as the State Chairman of the party.
“Oba Famodun was a stabilizing force, a man of clear vision and unshakable loyalty. His leadership strengthened our party at crucial times, and his voice of reason guided many critical decisions,” Ogungbangbe stated.
He added that the vacuum created by the monarch’s death will be deeply felt across the state, especially within the progressive family that benefitted immensely from his discipline, maturity, and unwavering commitment to unity.
“Igbajo has lost a father. Osun has lost a statesman. The APC family has lost a pillar of rare courage and integrity,” he said.
Quoting Psalm 116:15, “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints,” Prince Ogungbangbe noted that Oba Famodun lived a life worthy of celebration—one marked by service, dignity, and a legacy that will outlive generations.
He prayed that God grants the immediate family of the late monarch, the Igbajo community, and the entire Osun APC the strength to bear the irreparable loss, while also praying for continued honour upon the revered throne of Owa.
