Wake Up to Your Constitutional Duty and Stop Politicizing Security; Osun CP Gotan Is Not the Problem — Integrity Group Schools Adeleke

The Integrity Group of Osun State has dismissed as laughable, politically motivated, and irresponsible the call by a faceless and unidentified group masquerading as the National Youths Assembly of Nigeria (NYAN), Osun State Chapter, for the redeployment of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan.

In a statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity of the group, Hon. Ismail Alade, the Chairman of Integrity Group, Amb. Salam Mustapha Olamilekan, described the attack on the Commissioner of Police as a desperate attempt by PDP/Accord sympathizers to divert public attention from the monumental failure of Governor Ademola Adeleke in the area of security and governance.

According to Amb. Salam Mustapha Olamilekan, the Osun State Commissioner of Police has demonstrated professionalism, courage, and commitment in the discharge of his constitutional responsibilities despite the security challenges confronting the state.

He stated that Governor Ademola Adeleke should stop politicizing security matters and wake up to his constitutional responsibility as the Chief Security Officer of Osun State, rather than encouraging campaigns aimed at discrediting security agencies.

“It is unfortunate that those who should be asking Governor Adeleke questions about the management of billions of naira in security votes are instead attacking security officers who are working tirelessly to protect lives and property across Osun State,” he said.

“The Commissioner of Police is not the Chief Security Officer of Osun State. That responsibility rests squarely on Governor Ademola Adeleke. Any attempt to shift blame to the CP is a clear admission of failure by the state government.”

He further maintained that security agencies can only complement government efforts, stressing that leadership, coordination, and support for security operations remain the constitutional responsibilities of the governor.

The statement challenged Governor Adeleke to explain to Osun citizens how security funds allocated to his administration have been utilized, while cases of violent attacks, cult-related activities, and political thuggery continue to generate concerns among residents.

The Integrity Group therefore urged all stakeholders to support security agencies in their efforts to maintain peace and order, while calling on Governor Adeleke to provide leadership capable of guaranteeing the safety of lives and property across the state.
