The concensus candidate for the House of Representatives seat in Iwo Federal Constituency, comprising Ayedire, Iwo and Ola-Oluwa Local Governments, Hon. Ismail Sefiu Oluwasinaayomi (AKOGUN), has finally broken his silence on the outcome of the just concluded APC candidate selection process.
AKOGUN expressed profound appreciation to party leaders, stakeholders, loyal supporters, and members of Team AKOGUN for their support, encouragement, and belief in his aspiration throughout the process. According to him, the overwhelming show of love and acceptance remains a source of strength and motivation.
Speaking on the development, AKOGUN disclosed that the party’s consensus committee had initially picked him as the consensus candidate for the House of Representatives seat. However, he noted that the decision was later challenged and eventually overturned following objections from some quarters within the party.
He emphasized that despite the situation, there is nothing personal to hold against anyone, stressing that the supremacy of the party remains above every individual interest. According to him, as a loyal and committed party man, he accepts the outcome in good faith and remains dedicated to the unity, peace, and progress of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
AKOGUN therefore appealed to his supporters and followers across Ayedire, Iwo, and Ola-Oluwa to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding. He urged them not to engage in any act or attitude capable of causing disunity or disturbing the peace and stability of the party.
“We must continue to place the interest of our great party above personal ambitions. I appeal to all our supporters to remain steadfast, calm, and committed to the progress of APC. There is no cause for hostility or division. We remain hopeful in God and optimistic about the future,” he stated.
He further reaffirmed his commitment to the development of Iwo Federal Constituency and pledged to continue contributing meaningfully to the growth and success of the party at all levels.
