The recent emotional outburst by one Mr Pelumi Olajengbesi has once again exposed the desperation of the Osun Accord and defenders of the underperforming administration of Ademola Adeleke. When facts are inconvenient, they resort to twisting narratives, hiding behind tradition, and manufacturing outrage where none exists.
Let it be made abundantly clear: no one in the APC has insulted the revered stool of the Ooni of Ife or disrespected Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. This false claim is a deliberate ploy to divert attention from the real issue, the glaring imbalance, hypocrisy, and political favoritism that define the current administration’s so-called development agenda.
If indeed the Adeleke government believes so strongly in flyovers as a symbol of development, why has Ademola Adeleke not deemed it fit to construct even a single “jamboree flyover” in his hometown of Ede? Why was Ede instead treated to extensive dual carriageways across multiple entry routes and inner roads, while other major cities are left to struggle with decaying infrastructure?
This is the question they are afraid to answer.
What we are witnessing is not governance, but a calculated pattern of selective development, where state resources are disproportionately concentrated in one town, while others, including the historically significant Ile-Ife, are handed cosmetic projects designed more for headlines than for real impact. A single flyover cannot mask the harsh reality that many roads in Ife remain in deplorable, dangerous, and near death-trap conditions.
The people of Ife are not asking for symbolic gestures; they are demanding comprehensive development. They deserve functional road networks, not isolated projects packaged as monumental achievements. It is therefore insulting for anyone to suggest that questioning such imbalance amounts to disrespect for tradition.
Dragging the sacred institution of the Ooni into this political mess is both reckless and unacceptable. The throne of the Ooni of Ife must not be reduced to a shield for political inefficiency or used as a tool to silence legitimate concerns raised by the people.
The truth is simple: Osun State cannot be governed through sentiment, propaganda, and selective favoritism. Leadership demands fairness, vision, and an equitable distribution of resources across all regions — not the elevation of one town at the expense of others.
We challenge Ademola Adeleke and his allies to come clean with the people of Osun. Explain the lopsided allocation of projects. Explain why critical towns are neglected. Explain why basic infrastructure in major cities continues to deteriorate while resources are concentrated elsewhere.
No amount of emotional blackmail or politically motivated writing can erase these realities.
Osun people are watching. They are asking questions. And no government can escape accountability by hiding behind tradition or manufacturing outrage.
