Prince Thomas Ogungbangbe Celebrates Chief Bisi Akande at 87, Hails His Enduring Legacy in Nigerian Politics

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State and the leading aspirant for Osun East Senatorial District in the 2027 General Election, Prince Thomas Olaleye Ogungbangbe, PhD, has extended heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, Chief Abdul Kareem Adebisi Akande, former Governor of Osun State, former National Chairman of the APC, and the undisputed leader of progressive politics in Osun State, on the occasion of his 87th birthday anniversary.

In a statement issued on Friday by his Media Front, Prince Ogungbangbe described Chief Bisi Akande as an exceptional statesman, moral authority, and political institution whose life has been wholly dedicated to service, integrity, and the advancement of democratic governance in Nigeria.

According to him, celebrating Pa Akande at 87 goes far beyond marking the passage of time; it is a moment to honour decades of sacrifice, uncommon courage, principled leadership, and unwavering commitment to progressive ideals that have shaped the political history of Osun State and Nigeria at large.

Prince Ogungbangbe noted that Chief Akande remains one of the foundational pillars of the All Progressives Congress, recalling his selfless and historic role in uniting diverse political tendencies to form a formidable progressive coalition that altered Nigeria’s political trajectory. He stressed that Pa Akande’s calm wisdom, moral clarity, and bridge-building leadership were instrumental in fostering unity and discipline within the party, both at the state and national levels.

He further acknowledged the elder statesman’s enduring fatherly guidance and stabilising influence in Osun State politics, describing him as a consistent voice of reason whose interventions have always promoted peace, cohesion, and loyalty to progressive values.

“Pa Akande speaks with authority because his words are backed by a lifetime of consistency, honesty, and fearless commitment to truth. He has remained a compass for younger politicians, teaching by example that power must always be guided by conscience and service,” Prince Ogungbangbe stated.

Prince Ogungbangbe prayed for continued good health, renewed strength, and long life for the revered leader, adding that Osun State, the APC, and Nigeria are profoundly better because of Chief Bisi Akande’s invaluable contributions. He described him as a living legend whose legacy will continue to inspire generations of leaders committed to justice, unity, and good governance.

“At 87, Baba remains a powerful symbol of discipline, courage, and progressive thought. Today, we celebrate him with deep gratitude and pride, and we pray that his counsel and leadership will continue to guide our party and our nation for many more years,” the statement concluded.
