The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as shameful the Governor Ademola Adeleke monetary inducement of the lingering illegal abstainance from work embarked upon by the state chapter of the National Union of Local Government Employees(NULGE).
A recorded video of one of the senior NULGE staff in the state that went viral yesterday disclosed that some of the senior cadres of the local government council workers who wilfully abandoned their work were strangely rewarded with monetary inducement by the Governor Adeleke-led administration for sustaining the eight-month-old work abandonment in sympathy with the governor.
To this extent, it was learnt that each of the Heads of Local Government Administration(HLGA) in the 69 local government council areas including local council development areas in the state collected N750,000.00K while the equal number of the Directors of Administration and Finance (DAs) coasted home with N500,000.00K each.
Each of the other Directors in all the 69 local government council areas including the LCDAs were also said to have been enriched by the state government for keeping up the eight-month-old work abandonment with N250,000.00K.
Information also has it that the NULGE chairmen in all the 69 local government council areas including the LCDAs also smiled to the banks courtesy of the Governor Adeleke-led administration’s extension of a hand of fellowship to them for shunning the local government council secretariats for over eight months running.
It is quite strange that a government could go so low to the extent of promoting and funding an illegal work abandonment against itself all in the name of playing politics of bitterness and acrimony that has led to the avoidable exposure of the revered traditional rulers in the state and the grassroots dwellers to untold denial and endless suffering.
With this development, it is now crystal clear that it is Governor Adeleke who is behind the delay in the payment of the federal allocations to the local government council areas across the state by being instrumental to the abstainance from work of the council staff.
Why would Governor Adeleke be crying to the roof top that it is the opposition APC and some ministries and agencies of the Federal Government that are behind the delay in the payment of the federal allocations for the local government councils when it is verifiable that there is nothing under the sun that the governor hasn’t done to frustrate the payment of the money?
It is shameful that Osun State under Governor Adeleke has been attracting unfavourable news because of the series of the anomalous activities in his government to the utter chagrin of the right-thinking members of the society.
Our soothing balm as a party is that the current Governor Adeleke’s government is tenured with the 27th November, 2026 as its terminal date when it would be flushed out from the seat of power at the Bola Ige House by the progressive government of the APC that would restore all the lost glory of the state under the minimalist administration of the Ede-born Peoples Democratic Party PDP produced governor.
With the development, it means the leadership of the local government workers’ work force have sold out their conscience to the state government, forgetting their expected role of having to be responsible to the workers of different cadres.
What’s the propriety of the privileged NULGE bribe takers from the state government to have abandoned the entire local government work force when it is a statement of fact that countless of the striking council workers are wallowing in abject want and need through their inability to access their monthly deductions, co-operative contributions, leave bonuses and other fringe benefits?
It is not an overstatement to note the fact that some of the local government staff who had retired after serving their various councils meritoriously for 35 years or at the attainment of 60 years old had missed the terminal celebration of their exit which was usually accompanied with assorted gifts from friends and well-wishers at work due to the irrational and unjustifiable abandonment of work orchestrated by the leadership of the NULGE in sympathy with Governor Adeleke.
