… Says Only Justice Can Heal Our Wounds, Calls for Transparent Investigation to Uphold Justice and Restore Confidence in Ife Federal Constituency and Osun State
Aare (Engr.) Benjamin Kayode Adereti has commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for the prompt arrest of suspects linked to the tragic incident in Akinlalu, within the Ife Federal Constituency of Osun State. He described the Police action as “a bold and commendable demonstration of professionalism and commitment to justice,” noting that it has renewed public confidence in the rule of law and emphasized the importance of accountability in leadership. According to reports, operatives of the Amotekun Corps allegedly invaded the peaceful Akinlalu community on October 1, 2025, leading to the death of several residents and injuries to others.
Aare Adereti applauded the decisive steps taken by the Nigeria Police Force, including the sealing of Amotekun operational bases in Osogbo and Ile-Ife and the arrest of several operatives for interrogation. He stressed that such measures are essential to restore public order and ensure that no individual or institution operates beyond the law. “This represents a major step toward justice and the rebuilding of public trust, but the process must go further — everyone involved, regardless of status or influence, must be brought to book,” he stated, adding that the sanctity of human life must remain sacred and protected at all times.
While praising the IGP for his professionalism and decisive leadership, Aare Adereti urged the Police to ensure a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation that brings lasting justice to the victims and their families. He appealed for calm across Ife Federal Constituency and Osun State, assuring that leaders and stakeholders will continue to monitor developments closely to ensure justice is not only done but seen to be done. “Our democracy is strengthened when justice prevails and every citizen irrespective of power or position is treated equally before the law,” Aare Adereti concluded.
