Former Deputy Governor of Osun State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Otunba Christopher Iyiola Omisore, has announced that his formal declaration to contest the 2026 governorship election will hold on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
According to Omisore, the declaration ceremony is scheduled to take place at the APC State Secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital, and is expected to attract party stakeholders, political associates, and supporters from across the state.
The former senator, who has remained a prominent figure in Osun politics for decades, said his decision to run is anchored on the need to reposition the state for sustainable growth and development.
Omisore noted that the forthcoming declaration will mark the beginning of wide consultations and engagements with leaders, party members, and citizens on his vision for Osun.
Political analysts say the entry of Omisore into the race will significantly shape the dynamics of the APC primary, given his influence, political pedigree, and grassroots support across the state.
Party sources disclosed that preparations are already in top gear to ensure the declaration event becomes a unifying rally for APC members ahead of the 2026 polls.
Omisore, who previously served as Chairman of the Appropriation Committee in the Senate, expressed confidence that his experience and track record in public service place him in a vantage position to lead Osun to greater heights.
With this announcement, the political atmosphere in Osun State is expected to heat up as aspirants and stakeholders within the APC begin to align and strategize ahead of this year’s primaries.
