As Osun State marks its 34th anniversary today, Hon. Ismail Sefiu Oluwasinaayomi has joined millions of citizens in celebrating the creation of the state, describing it as “a legacy of pride, progress, and promise.”
In a goodwill message made available to journalists, Hon. Oluwasinaayomi recalled the historic moment of August 27, 1991, when Osun was carved out of the old Oyo State, noting that the journey since then has been one of resilience, growth, and cultural pride.
He described Osun as the undisputed “Cradle of Yoruba Civilization”—a state whose cultural and historical significance continues to resonate beyond Nigeria’s borders. He highlighted the Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove and globally recognized festivals as enduring symbols of the state’s heritage.
Beyond culture, the lawmaker emphasized Osun’s strides in education, agriculture, entrepreneurship, and governance, stressing that the state has produced trailblazers whose contributions have positively impacted the nation.
“At 34, Osun stands tall—not only in age but in ambition. We are a people united by purpose, driven by progress, and guided by the dreams of our founding fathers. This anniversary should renew our collective commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous Osun where every citizen has a stake, a voice, and a future,” he stated.
Hon. Oluwasinaayomi further commended the contributions of past and present leaders, as well as the resilience of the people of Osun, urging unity and dedication towards the advancement of the state.
He concluded with prayers for peace, unity, and sustainable development, assuring the people of his unwavering commitment to the progress of Osun State.
“Happy 34th Anniversary to the good people of Osun State. Osun a gbe wa o!”
