In every political movement, there emerges a person whose vision, commitment, and character not only define the party’s philosophy but also shape the trajectory of its progress. In Osun State, that person is none other than Sooko Tajudeen Eniafe Lawal, the indefatigable Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Today, as he marks another year in his journey of life, I find it necessary and indeed, urgent to declare that Sooko Lawal is the one who should be celebrated by all progressives in Osun State.
In a time when many leaders are fixated on titles and trappings, Sooko Lawal stands apart as a shining light, calm but firm, principled yet pragmatic. His leadership is not about self-promotion but about service, not about fanfare but about impact. He has quietly and steadily stabilised the party through trying moments, ensuring cohesion across all tendencies, and maintaining the APC’s relevance at all levels in Osun State.
I have known Sooko Lawal not just as a party leader but as a man of genuine goodwill, a good-hearted person who listens to the young and old, who empowers without discrimination, and who preaches loyalty through his own consistent actions. He’s not just an administrator; he’s a builder of people, of systems, and of hope.
As I fondly refer to him today “Our Capo di tutti capi”. It is because he exemplifies what it means to be first among equals. He commands respect, not through intimidation, but through integrity. His style of leadership reflects the very essence of progressivism: collective advancement rooted in justice, fairness, and inclusiveness.
At a time when political turbulence rocks the foundation of many parties across Nigeria, Osun APC continues to find its rhythm and footing, thanks in large part to the stabilizing presence of Sooko Lawal. He understands the party is bigger than any individual, and he continues to invest his time, intellect, and resources into nurturing that collective spirit.
As we celebrate his birthday today, let us also reflect on what it means to have such a gem at the helm of affairs. Let every progressive in Osun recommit to the ideals he embodies, unity, discipline, loyalty, and service.
Sooko Tajudeen Lawal is not just the Chairman of APC in Osun State. He is the heartbeat of the progressive movement, the quiet force behind our victories, and the moral compass of our political family.
