Osun APC Condemns Touting Of Borrowing N200Bn For Sit-at-home Impostor PDP LG Council Chairmen

Cautions Banks To Be Cautious Of Adeleke’s Govt Antics

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has alerted the commercial banks to be wary of the antics of the leadership of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party PDP-led Governor Ademola Adeleke administration in the state to sabotage the autonomy of the local government administration by contemplating the borrowing of N200 billion for the illegal and purportedly-elected sit-at-home local government council chairmen and councillors.

Information has it that it was a resolution at the PDP stakeholders’ meeting of the hurriedly plan Osun Central Senatorial District held at Okuku, the hometown of former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, in the Odo-Otin Local Government Council Area of Osun State on Tuesday.

The meeting which also had Mr Sunday Bisi, the PDP state chairman, in attendance was addressed in turns by some of the high party political functionaries in attendance which aggregate of their submissions exhibited a high-level pressure on the part of Governor Adeleke government, the ruling party and all the members of the party.

The occasion was more or less of a replica of a graveyard peace as all the members of the party in attendance were wearing looks depicting them of exhibiting anger and sorrow over the inability of Governor Adeleke to have, as usual, unfettered access to the accumulated local government allocations from Abuja.

It would be recalled that the PDP seems to be in a quandary as they lost out in the various formal courts in the land, lost the media war and has now resorted to the court of the public by shamelessly making use of some rented, pliable and disgruntled human rights activists who have been cashing out and smiling to the banks on the shady deal of misinforming the unsuspecting members of the public.

Information at the PDP stakeholders’ meeting revealed that it was a former state chairman of the party who suggested that the leaders of the party should impress it on the governor to toe an option of borrowing N200 billion from the bank and release same to the purported PDP local government council chairmen and councillors popularly regarded as sit-at-home council chairmen and councillors.

It was gathered that Mr Sunday Bisi, the state PDP chairman told the meeting that he would report the outcome of the meeting to the governor to enable him do the needful on the suggestion that the state government should borrow N200 billion for the illegal council chairmen and councillors which would be distributed to them to construct and rehabilitate some roads in their purported local government council areas.

The commercial banks should be wary of the ploy of the Osun State government to counter the judgement of the Supreme Court which expressly ceded autonomy of the administration of the local government to the respective councils.

We are stating it unequivocally that it is a criminal act for any state government to be shopping for a loan under any guise on behalf of any local government council more so when the affected usurpers are not recognized by any law of the land.

We are enjoining the right-thinking members of the society to join us in condemning the ploy of the Governor Adeleke-led administration to plunge the state into avoidable debt as the state does not have a legal capacity to borrow money on behalf of the grassroots level of government.

We are not unaware of the fact that the PDP-led government in the state is broke which is the reason it is desperately looking for any avenue to mortgage the money legally belonging to the authentic elected local government councils after it had squandered the legitimate allocations due to the state.
