By Osun Voice

Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as “Emir Ajagungbade,” has reportedly been shot dead in Ile-Ife, Osun State, amid tensions surrounding the control of motor parks and transport union structures in the state.

Emir, who was reportedly known as a notorious political thug and alleged cult figure in Osogbo, was also described in circulating reports as an associate of Governor Ademola Adeleke. The nature and extent of any political relationship remain subject to verification.

His death reportedly occurred shortly after a meeting involving transport-sector stakeholders in Ile-Ife, raising questions over whether the killing was connected to the ongoing struggle for control of parks and union activities.

The incident has reportedly heightened tension in parts of Osogbo, including Oja Oba, Asubiaro, Oke Ola and Kaka, where fears of possible reprisal attacks have emerged.

The Nigeria Police Force is expected to investigate the killing and establish the motive, perpetrators and any connection to the transport-union crisis.

Residents are urged to remain calm and law-abiding as security agencies work to prevent further violence.
