The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has recorded a significant milestone in its internal democratic process as Prince Boye Adegoke and Hon. Adeyinka Adejobi emerged as consensus candidates for the Ife East and Ife Central State Constituencies, respectively, following extensive consultations and transparent screening exercises by party stakeholders.
In Ife East Local Government, the party’s screening committee, chaired by Engr. Ishola Basiru Awotorebo, conducted what observers and stakeholders have described as one of the most thorough, transparent, and credible selection processes in recent times. The exercise involved a detailed assessment of three aspirants—Hon. Olajide Martins Adeyeye, Mr. Bukola Ojuade, and Prince Boye Adegoke—based on key criteria including political pedigree, loyalty to the party, grassroots mobilization capacity, and overall acceptability among party faithful.
At the conclusion of the exercise, Prince Boye Adegoke emerged as the preferred consensus candidate, having distinguished himself across all evaluation indices. His emergence has since been widely endorsed by party leaders and stakeholders within the local government.
Prominent leaders at the Ife East Area Office, including Chief Wahab Asalu and Chief Fatai Kolawole, have unequivocally backed Adegoke’s candidacy, describing him as the only validly endorsed aspirant. They further cautioned against any attempt to undermine the outcome of the screening process or impose alternative candidates, emphasizing the need to respect due process and party discipline.
Members of the screening committee who supervised the exercise include Engr. Basiru Awotorebo (Chairman), Sooko (Hon.) Lekan Omidiora (Vice Chairman), Sooko Kemade Elugbaju (Secretary), Hon. (Dr.) Segun Adeyeni, Hon. Akinwale Akinwole Omilaj, Hon. Ganiyu Egbetunde, Mr. Kayode Akintinfonbo (Ife East Party Chairman), Elder Dauda Akinwole, Alhaji Ayo Olafiranye, Mr. Akinsowon Kazeem (Youth Leader), Mrs. Adedire Funmilola (Women Leader), Mr. Folorunsho Isaiah, and Mr. Adedire Dayo.
Meanwhile, in Ife Central Local Government, the APC Elders Forum convened a strategic meeting on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the residence of Senator Babajide Omoworare, CON, to deliberate on critical party matters, particularly in strengthening unity and ensuring strategic positioning ahead of forthcoming political engagements.
The meeting, which had in attendance thirty-one members, featured robust consultations and deliberations among key stakeholders. Notable attendees included Prof. Moses Awogbade, Prof. Taiwo Olaiya, Rt. Hon. Nike Omoworare, Hon. Olubisi Oladosu, Hon. Segun Fanibe, and Hon. Olayera Elugbaju, among others.
Following a democratic process involving a show of hands, members of the Elders Forum reached a broad consensus in support of Hon. Adeyinka Adejobi as the preferred candidate for the Ife Central State Assembly seat. The decision, according to the Forum, aligns with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 and the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which recognize consensus as a legitimate method of candidate selection, subject to voluntary agreement by stakeholders.
The Forum subsequently urged all party leaders, aspirants, and stakeholders within Ife Central to rally behind Adejobi’s candidacy in the interest of unity, stability, and electoral success. It emphasized that the consensus arrangement was designed to foster inclusiveness, reduce internal contestation, and strengthen the party’s collective resolve ahead of the elections.
In addition, the Elders Forum announced the appointment of Hon. Yera Elugbaju as the Campaign Director-General for the forthcoming governorship election in Ife Central Local Government, while Prof. Taiwo Olaiya was named head of a five-man strategic committee tasked with coordinating campaign efforts and policy direction.
The Forum also expressed appreciation to the leadership of the party for considering Aare Benjamin Kayode Adereti as the deputy governorship candidate alongside Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, describing the decision as a testament to the party’s commitment to inclusiveness and recognition of grassroots contributions.
Reaffirming its dedication to party unity and democratic values, the Elders Forum pledged continued support for all legitimate processes and outcomes within the APC, stressing the importance of discipline, cohesion, and collective responsibility in securing electoral victory for the party in Osun State.
