As Osun State prepares for this year’s gubernatorial election, the major opposition party in the state, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has intensified its call for peace, unity, and cohesion among its members and party stalwarts across the state.
This message formed a major part of the 2026 New Year resolution at the first meeting of the State Working Committee of the party, held today at the party’s state secretariat along Gbongan Road, Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
Speaking at the meeting, the State Chairman of the party, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, emphasized that party cohesion, discipline, and decorum in all engagements remain critical to the success of the APC in the forthcoming gubernatorial election. He urged members and party chieftains to uphold these values at all times.
While reviewing the party’s activities in 2025, particularly the recently concluded governorship primary election, the executives identified the need for a robust and all-inclusive reconciliation process. This, they noted, is necessary to foster harmony within the party and strengthen its structure ahead of the gubernatorial election.
On the forthcoming membership e-registration exercise, the executives enjoined all members and leaders to prepare adequately and actively participate, noting that the exercise would enhance the party’s database and further boost its strength across the state.
Members were also encouraged to rally solid support behind the party leadership to ensure effective mobilisation and the successful execution of all forthcoming party programmes and activities.
The party commended the leadership for the peaceful resolution of the gubernatorial primary exercise, with special appreciation to Chief Bisi Akande, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, Chief Sola Akinwumi, and members of the Igbimo Agba for their painstaking efforts toward achieving a peaceful outcome.
Special appreciation was also extended to all gubernatorial aspirants for their commendable conduct and maturity throughout the primary election process.
The APC State Executive Committee reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to unity, growth, and strategic planning as the party positions itself for greater achievements in the year ahead.
