President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extolled the virtues of Vice President Kashim Shettima on the occasion of his 59th birthday, describing him as a dependable partner whose loyalty and leadership have continued to justify his choice as Nigeria’s number two citizen.
In a heartfelt message on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the President said Shettima’s courage, tenacity, and unwavering belief in Nigeria’s greatness have been instrumental to the progress of the current administration.
“Today presents another unique opportunity to celebrate you, my brother, co-traveller, and Vice President. Since we embarked on this journey, united by the shared vision of building a more prosperous nation, your sense of duty and determination have remained unshaken,” Tinubu said.
He recalled Shettima’s remarkable service as Governor of Borno State for eight years and later as a Senator representing Borno Central, noting that in both roles he embodied leadership as service, not privilege, even amid daunting challenges.
Tinubu emphasized that Shettima’s vibrancy, loyalty, and partnership have been invaluable to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda, adding that the Vice President has brought fresh perspectives and strengthened governance at the highest level.
“In choosing you, I selected competence and other qualities Nigeria could depend on. Every day, you have justified that choice by upholding our commitment to Nigerians. Your dedication reassures me that I made the right decision,” he said.
The President further commended Shettima’s contributions to food security, investment reforms, and global partnerships, stressing that their collaboration will continue to yield tangible benefits for Nigerians.
