The Provost of the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan, Professor Jonathan Jeremiah, has appealed to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (Tetfund) to extend its intervention support to the college, citing the urgent need to address infrastructural deficits in the nation’s oldest institution of its kind.
Professor Jeremiah made the call on Thursday, August 14, 2025, during a colourful ceremony held at the institution to host the newly appointed Chairman of the College’s Governing Board, Hon. Sooko Tajudeen Olaniyi Lawal.
The Provost stressed that inclusion in the Tetfund intervention scheme would significantly enhance the college’s capacity to meet its statutory mandate of contributing to national food security.
He noted that the 105-year-old institution plays a pivotal role not only in agricultural research and food sufficiency but also in manpower development for Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
“It is imperative that the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan, is not excluded from such critical support,” Jeremiah stated, adding that the infrastructural upgrade and resources from Tetfund would strengthen the college’s operations and output.
Meanwhile ,Hon. Tajudeen Lawal pledged his commitment to supporting the institution in delivering on its mandate, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the agricultural sector.
He assured that the governing board would work towards ensuring the college’s growth and relevance in driving food security across the nation
