Osun APC Grateful To President Tinubu, Oyetola Over Omidiran, Eluyemi’s FCC Appointments
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC has thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointments of Alhaja Ayo Hulayat Omidiran as the chairperson of the Federal Character Commission(FCC) and Hon Eludayo Eluyemi as the Federal Commissioner of the commission representing Osun State.
The party also appreciated the efforts of the Osun State leader of the APC, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, in making the appointments a reality.
There’s no doubting the fact that the appointment of Alhaja Omidiran as the chairperson of the FCC is round peg in a round hole taking into cognizance her experience as a former member of the House of Representatives that represented Ayedaade /Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency.
It is also worthy of mention to recall the fact that Omidiran’s wealth of experience as an accomplished sports administrator and seasoned politician would enhance her excellent performance in her new duty post.
The new FCC chairperson is widely recognised for her role in advancing women’s football in Nigeria and she is the founder of Omidiran Babes Football Club women’s team, a leading women’s team that has nurtured talents for both national and international competitions.
It would also be recalled that Alhaja Omidiran served as the Chairman, Osun State chapter of the South-West Agenda(SWAGA 23) ahead of the last presidential election.
The appointed Federal Commissioner of the FCC representing Osun State, Hon. Eluyemi, is widely respected in Osun’s political circles and he was one of theAPC House of Assembly aspirants in 2019 and has remained a committed party loyalist.
He is also known as a staunch supporter of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and has played active roles in several political mobilization and grassroots development initiatives within the state.
The appointment, which will run for a five-year term, is subject to confirmation by the Senate in line with constitutional provisions.
If confirmed, Eluyemi popularly called *Elu Meje Meje* who hails from Ile-Ife will be expected to work alongside other commissioners in ensuring equitable distribution of appointments, infrastructural projects and opportunities among Nigeria’s diverse states and ethnic groups.
The Federal Character Commission plays a crucial role in promoting unity and fairness in governance by ensuring that all states and regions are adequately represented in federal appointments and resource allocation.
