A public affairs analyst, Comrade Salam Mustapha, has faulted the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over its recent statement accusing the Federal Government and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of withholding local government allocations meant for the state.

In a statement made available to journalists in Osogbo on Wednesday, Mustapha described the PDP’s position as misleading, legally weak, and politically dishonest. He said the state government, led by Governor Ademola Adeleke, is simply facing the consequences of disobeying valid court judgments, which declared his sack of elected local government officials as illegal.

“Governor Adeleke removed constitutionally elected local government chairmen without any legal backing. The courts have ruled clearly that the action was wrong. Now that the consequences of that illegality have set in, the PDP is pointing fingers at the APC and the Federal Government instead of taking responsibility,” Comrade Mustapha explained.

He added that the decision to withhold Osun’s local government funds is not political, but a legal step to protect the interests of Osun people. According to him, no state governor is above the law, and respect for judicial decisions is a cornerstone of democracy.

Comrade Mustapha also questioned the sincerity of Governor Adeleke’s continued attacks on the APC, noting that the governor has been secretly lobbying to join the same party he publicly accuses of frustrating Osun’s development.

“If the APC is as bad as the PDP claims, why has Adeleke been making desperate moves to join the party? Why the backdoor meetings and lobbying in Abuja? The truth is simple: the PDP in Osun is weak and divided, and the governor is looking for a way out. Mr. Governor seems more concerned about his re-election than the actual development of the state,” he stated.

The analyst also raised concerns about the recent deployment of Ad-hoc teachers by the state government. He noted that using unverified political loyalists as temporary teachers cannot replace a proper recruitment process.

“If the PDP government had followed due process, we wouldn’t be in this situation. The so called Ad-hoc teachers are just a short-term fix, not a real solution. You don’t play politics with education,” Comrade Mustapha lamented.

He urged the PDP to stop blaming others for its failures and face the reality that the people of Osun deserve a government that respects the law, plans responsibly, and puts public interest first.
