President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Muhammad Babangida, the son of former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, as the new Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), signaling a major move in the ongoing reform of Nigeria’s agricultural financing system.

Who is Muhammad Babangida?
Muhammad Babangida, 53, brings a rich blend of academic pedigree and business acumen to his new role. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Public Relations and Business Communication from the European University in Montreux, Switzerland. In 2002, he completed the Executive Program on Corporate Governance at the prestigious Harvard Business School.
A businessman and investor, Babangida has over two decades of experience spanning across corporate governance, entrepreneurship, and international business relations. He is the first son of General Ibrahim Babangida and has largely maintained a private profile while contributing quietly to business and philanthropic engagements.
