Former Deputy Governor of Osun State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore, has issued a stern warning that Governor Ademola Adeleke cannot join the Osun APC through his alliance with Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Omisore emphasized that party membership, especially at the state level, must follow due process — beginning at the grassroots.
As of today, I have not declared my intention to run for governor in Osun. However, I will engage in consultations with the elders’ caucus of our party. If the people so wish, so be it,” Omisore stated.
Taking a swipe at Adeleke’s alleged moves to align with the APC, Omisore remarked:
I have never seen a sitting governor begging and struggling to join an opposition party. Adeleke will be the first.”
He reiterated that while the constitution permits anyone to join any political party, the correct procedures must be observed.
Anybody is free to join any political party in Osun, but it must be done through the proper channels — not through harbouring or influence from another state like Ogun. This is not how our party operates,” he added.
Omisore’s statement comes amid growing political speculation about behind-the-scenes realignments in the Osun political landscape as the 2026 governorship race gathers momentum
