Court Restrains INEC from Recognising David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola as ADC Leaders

Abuja – September 11, 2025

The Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an interim order restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising Senator David Mark and former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, as the National Chairman and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), respectively.

Justice [Name withheld], delivering the ruling on Thursday, granted the application pending the determination of a substantive suit filed by aggrieved members of the party who challenged the legitimacy of their emergence.

The plaintiffs argued that due process was not followed in their purported appointments and urged the court to prevent INEC from according them recognition until the matter is fully resolved.

Justice [Name withheld] ruled that the status quo must be maintained to avoid creating confusion within the party and directed all parties to appear before the court on the adjourned date for hearing.

The case has been adjourned to [insert date when available].

Details shortly.
