Current Opposition Worst In Nigeria’s History — Bwala

According to him, the country is entering the stage where Nigerians will feel the positive impact of the economy.

The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has described the opposition against the ruling All Progressives Congress as the worst in Nigeria’s political history.

He stated this during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today while reacting to ongoing talks about a coalition to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

When asked whether he was aware of ongoing plans by some opposition parties to form a coalition, Bwala said, “Even they are trying to bring penicillin, ampicillin. Let me tell you, this opposition, very sadly, in my recent memory, is the worst that has ever happened to Nigeria.

“Let me even use this opportunity and also praise myself. When the President became President after the election was over, I was single-handedly in the opposition. Right?”

“When I made the decision and I came over to President Bola Tinubu and I came back to my party, the floodgate opened and they were joining us.

“So I am Moses in this journey, and the reason is simple: President Bola Tinubu is delivering on the promise. He’s not perfect

The presidential aide also said the Nigerian economy was improving under the administration of Tinubu, likening the economy to one “out of the intensive care unit” and “in a recovery room”.

“The economy is out of the intensive care unit. The economy is in a recovery room in the hospital. So, the economy is still in the hospital. We admit to that.

“But coming out of the intensive care unit to the recovery, if you ask medical practitioners, they will tell you it is not ‘moi moi’. It is a very big milestone that you are at a point when you can die to a point where fundamentals of what would have caused your death have been dealt with, but now you need to recover from the basics,” he said.

According to him, the country is entering the stage where Nigerians will feel the positive impact of the economy.

“And if you look at our economy, because we are settling debt, because we have foreign reserve, because we have also established a key baseline for the growth of the economy, we can beat our chest and say the economy is stable.

“We are entering the stage, where the effect of the economy will hit the Nigerian people in its proper form, and we are not in any way suggesting it hasn’t done that,” Bwala said.

He further said that the President had already taken some steps to stabilise the system, including the minimum wage increase and promoting industrial harmony.

“This administration of President Bola Tinubu said, ‘During my time, there will be no ASUU strike’. He ensured that the needs of the ASUU people were met and there so far not been any strike by ASUU in Nigeria.

“This President led and spearheaded the increase of minimum wage for the Nigerian people. This President ensured that our youth corps members get as much as N77,000 in a month.

“This President ensured that the critical areas of the economy, the private sector, are given access to equal opportunity to thrive. This President at the same time, ensured that while we’re carrying out this reform, there are interventions, interventions are to meet with the indigent members of the society.”
