The Osogbo branch of the Modakeke Progressive Union(MPU) has congratulated Professor Mufutau Olatoye Atayese on his appointment as the maiden Vice-Chancellor of the University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji, in the Boripe Local Government Council Area of Osun State.
According to the chairman of the association, Mr Yinka Odewale, the appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is merited taking into cognizance the enviable records of the scholar at his past places of work.
Odewale described Professor Atayese’s appointment as an inspiration to the younger ones in Modakeke, telling them that hard work pays.
In the words of the chairman: “Professor Atayese indeed is a good ambassador of our town as his appointment has placed our community on the world map which is not a mean achievement.
“On behalf of all the members of the MPU in Osogbo, I am expressing my profound gratitude to President Tinubu for appointing one of us, Professor Muftau Olaoye Atayese, the first Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji.
“I want to assure the President that Prof Atayese’s appointment is a round peg in a round hole as the appointee has an enviable history of excellent performances in all the establishments he had worked in the past.
“We shall all be praying for Professor Atayese for divine assistance in his new role in the service of the nation’s academic community”, Odewale stated.
It would be recalled that Prof Atayese’s last appointment before he became the VC was his election as the deputy Vice-Chancellor(Development) of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State at the 230th statutory senate meeting.
The scholar was a respected academic in the Department of Plant Physiology and Crop Production(PPCP) under the College of Plant Science and Crop Production(COLPLANT).
Prof Atayese is also FUNAAB’s 83rd Inaugural Lecturer, a former Dean of COLPLANT and had served as a member of the university’s governing council.
