OSUN APC, PDP IN WAR OF WORDS OVER ADELEKE’S SUSPICIOUS DISAPPEARANCE

Your Reasons For Fleeing Nigeria For Over Three Weeks Are Flimsy, Puerile, Irritating ~- Opposition APC Slams Adeleke

The political climate in Osun State has boiled over into an open war of words as the All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a scathing attack on Governor Ademola Adeleke over what it described as his “shameful disappearance” from the state for more than three weeks.

The APC, through its Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, condemned the governor’s absence from duty, stating that Osun has effectively become a “leaderless and rudderless state under Adeleke’s care-free and entertainment-driven administration.”

In a statement that reads more like an indictment than a political jab, the APC described Adeleke’s unannounced departure for the United States, allegedly to oversee the wedding of his nephew, global music star David Adeleke (a.k.a. Davido), as “flimsy, puerile, and irritating.”

> “It is an insult on the intelligence of Osun citizens that a sitting governor would abandon his constitutional responsibilities without official notice, only to be smoked out by public outcry,” the APC said.

The opposition party didn’t stop at criticizing the trip but extended its criticism to what it called a pattern of neglect and unseriousness, citing the six-month-long strike by the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), unresolved salary issues, and the general administrative inertia that has gripped the state.

> “Osun State is now on autopilot. The Speaker, Hon. Adewale Egbedun, embroiled in controversy for threatening a traditional ruler, is also missing in action. The Secretary to the State Government is frolicking in Dallas. The state leadership has abandoned governance for luxury, parties, and selfies abroad,” the APC lamented.

The party further mocked the response of the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, who issued a public invitation to the APC to attend the wedding, describing it as “laughable, childish and a mockery of governance.”

> “If this administration had any ounce of respect for the people, it wouldn’t treat a state of over four million citizens as a family business where public officeholders prioritize exotic vacations and social events over state matters,” Olabisi declared.

The APC questioned whether Adeleke’s vacation was officially approved, and if his deputy was properly briefed and transmitted authority as required by the Nigerian constitution.

> “Did he transfer power as required by law? Or did he leave Osun State in the hands of his family proxies who have been the unofficial faces of his government since day one?”

Citing previous unexplained disappearances—such as Adeleke’s secret trip to Thailand under the guise of “medical tourism”—the APC expressed deep concern that public funds may be fuelling the governor’s “extravagant and jet-setting lifestyle” without accountability or transparency.

> “How many months will he go on vacation if his biological son, B-Red, is the one getting married?” the APC quipped sarcastically.

A Government of Shows and Shadows

This latest controversy has deepened the APC’s narrative that Governor Adeleke has trivialized governance, preferring a showbiz-style leadership devoid of planning, structure, or impact.

> “He applied for this job, but instead of leading, he’s turned the Osun Government House into a circus of distractions, music, and mediocrity,” the statement reads.

In concluding remarks, the APC declared that history will judge the Adeleke administration harshly, stating that Osun under his leadership has “become a monumental wreck—irretrievably damaged and embarrassingly unserious.”

The party urged Osun citizens and civil society to rise in demand for accountability and called on the National Assembly and relevant oversight institutions to investigate what it called a “gross dereliction of duty and financial recklessness.”
