As the race toward the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election gains momentum, prominent political stakeholders and respected elders from the Ife Federal Constituency have made a unified call for Senator Iyiola Omisore to contest for the number one seat in the state.

At a strategic consultative meeting held in Ile-Ife, the Ife Elders’ Caucus described Senator Omisore as “a bridge-builder, development advocate, and the most prepared leader for a time like this.” The gathering was a reflection of the growing political realignment within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the state as a whole.

Speaking at the event, Baba Sooko Adeleke Adewoyin, a former Deputy Governor of Osun State, did not mince words in his appeal for competent leadership.

Osun is at a critical juncture. The current administration has shown clear signs of administrative fatigue and lack of direction. Senator Omisore’s wealth of experience, national exposure, and deep understanding of Osun’s developmental needs place him far above any other contender.”

The call from Ife comes in the wake of a recent declaration by His Excellency Gboyega Oyetola, former Governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, who publicly stated that he would not be running in the 2026 race. His decision has ignited fresh conversations within the APC on zoning, experience, and electability — with Omisore’s name emerging consistently as a front-runner.

In his response, Senator Omisore acknowledged the growing support and assured party members and the public of his readiness to serve:

This is more than a courtesy visit — it is a divine call to service. I have consulted widely with our elders, party leaders, and grassroots mobilizers. I am ready to answer this call. By the grace of God, and with the support of our people, APC shall return to power in Osun State come 2026. Our state deserves leadership with vision, courage, and compassion  and that is the path we shall take.

The meeting was attended by political stakeholders, traditional rulers, women and youth groups, and community leaders from across the Ife zone — a clear sign of a broad-based movement forming around Omisore’s potential candidacy.

With 2026 drawing closer, the political direction in Osun appears to be shifting, and the voices calling for tested leadership, rooted in competence and credibility, are growing louder.
