Defection Fears: PDP Sit-At-Home LG Chairmen, Councillors Get N1.5billion From Adeleke

     swear to Juju’ oath………..

A staggering sum of about N1.5billion have allegedly been doled out to the elected sit-at-hpome local governments chairmen, Vice Chairmen, Secretaries and Councillors of the PDP extraction in Osun State by the Senator Ademola Adeleke-led administration.

Besides, the supposed elected local government officials whose election has been mirred in controversies and held up by legal entanglements, have allegedly undertaken spiritual oaths of allegiance that they won’t betray Governor Ademola Adeleke by going with him wherever he goes.

While the chairmen said in addition to have been given a sum of N5m (five million naira) each, the Vice Chairmen got N2.5million each, the Secretaries N2m each and the councillors received N1m per person which totalled to about N1.100 billion.

Breakdown of how the money was shared, showed that 69 chairmen,69 vice Chairmen,69 Secretaries and 393 Councillors, benefitted from the largesse that is already setting tongues among the people in the state.

Along the line, some individuals were said to have been gifted various sums in order to ensure that they stay glue to the Adeleke and his course, especially as regards his political steps and to prevent most of them from defecting to any other political party.

One of the beneficiaries who spoke under the condition of anonymity, said different Yoruba spells called “Olugbohun” were used to administer the oath of allegiance aimed at ensuring that none of them defects from the PDP.

Sources added that the oath had to be employed as a result of loud complaints emanating from the camp of the elected chairmen and councillors who are said to have become frustrated because of their inability to assume office since their ill-advised election.

It was learnt that as a result of the development which has caused many of them to go bankrupt, they have become restless and have been on headlong collision with Governor Adeleke and others at the top echelon of administration in the state.

It was learnt that the complaints of the sit-at-home chairmen were rooted in the fact that they were misled into going for the election in the first instance, accusing the governor and his handlers of insincerity.

The oath said to have been staggered, started on Wednesday and ended on Friday with the activities involved supervised by the state PDP Chairman, Mr Sunday Bisi.

It was equally gathered that the spiritual oath was quickly arranged to prevent most of them from leaving from the PDP as some of them were already planning to leave the PDP for other parties.

As of the time of filing this report, efforts to reach out to the government side for comment, proved abortive as none of them was ready to speak on the issue.
