By KOLA OLABISI.
The presidency should be wary of the visible frantic efforts of the Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to enlist the services of propagandists to make up and polish the past deeds of the governor and his co-travellers to appear a saint in the estimation of the All Progressives Congress APC-led Federal Government of the vision-driven President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in order to make his purported intended defection into the ruling party at the centre seamless.
Hardly can one open any means of mass communication since the issue of the speculation of Governor Adeleke to defect into the party he had rubbished, debased and humiliated up to the recent time without being confronted with series of falsehoods and misinformation aimed at decorating the governor with a borrowed robe by the enlisted propagandists who have been smiling to their banks.
If Governor Adeleke and his cohorts had known that a day like this that he would be begging to join the APC would come, they wouldn’t have dug the metaphorical political trenches which they sadistically prepared for their political foes to be as deep as it is now being witnessed to be their abode in line with the accentuation of the Law of Karma.
Assuming without conceding that the Ede-born Governor Adeleke is joining the APC, as someone having blood running in his veins, would he use his usual executive order to bring to life the not fewer than 30 members and supporters of the APC who were unjustifiably dispatched to the great beyond by the militant arm of the Osun State chapter of the PDP all in an effort to rig in Senator Adeleke as the state governor and other candidates of the party who stepped on the blood of the members and supporters of the opposition to achieve their ill-gotten victory at the polls?
What would be the plight of the family of a local chieftain of the APC who was forcefully taken to the Golgotha on a motorcycle by the PDP political thugs in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Council Area of Osun State, on the day that the then Presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu, brought his campaign train to the State of the Virtuous?
Has Governor Adeleke forgotten so soon how he orchestrated a sudden withdrawal of services by the commercial transport workers on that day in order to frustrate the Tinubu campaign programme which to his consternation was successfully held as the people found alternative means of getting to the venue of the Presidential campaign?
God indeed is marvellous! Did it ever occur to Governor Adeleke that he would one day be begging to join a party whose state leader, former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, he had falsely accused of looting the Government House to the extent of ‘stealing spoons and knives’ which subsequently could not be substantiated?
Discerning minds are waiting for how the issue of the more than three traditional rulers among whom were the Owa of Igbajo, the Akinrun of Ikirun and the Aree of Iree who were legally enthroned by his predecesor were sacked by him through the invocation of the obnoxious and inhuman Executive Order that was later rubbished and thrown into the dustbin by the judgement of a High Court sitting in Ile-Ife, early this year which restored Oba Philip Adegboyega Famodun, the substantive and recognised Owa of Igbajoland in the eyes of the law.
The infliction of the agonies and sorrows on the traditional rulers was for the purpose of disgracing his predecesor.
What would be the disposition of Governor Adeleke towards the 1,500 public school teachers employed by his predecessor but vindictively sacked by him through another Executive Order just the way he sacked the inherited 20,000 O’YES cadets and another sizeable number of health workers who are yet to be replaced despite the fact that humongous federal government allocations in several billions of naira have been accruing to the state?
Will the killing of Honourable Remi Abass, the Court of Appeal reinstated chairman of Irewole Local Government Council Area, Ikire, by the political thugs of the PDP who were responding to the inciting address of the governor at the Government House, Okefia, Osogbo, be a way of showing a gratitude to the governor and his goons as a worthy passport to join the APC?
The propagandists of Governor Adeleke at various levels of their status are only been trying to be clever by half as what they are pushing to the public that it was the presidency that has been begging the Osun State governor to identify with its fold does not add up and it is a visible insult to the sensibility of the Presidency and all those who have not been deprived of their thinking capacity as it is simply not logical.
For those who might not know the reasons why Governor Adeleke was said to have cried for fifteen minutes at the state executive council meeting recently, it was the flashback of his past misdeeds in the government that resonated in his subconscious and the fear of unknown of his fate concerning his reelection bid which has glaringly hit the rock. Instinct is telling me that what is preoccupying the mind of the Ede-born governor now is how to successfully finish his first four-year term while a second term is far from his contemplation as the existing variables are not favourable to him.
It is only those whose minds are made of steel that would not be visibly bothered and worried to the extent of crying like a baby when the nation’s anti-corruption agency like the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) are after their Chief of Staff(CoS) over an alleged N12 billion scam and a female sibling over N4 billion questionable deal. The frightening signal being sent by the development is that it is the statutory immunity that has been shielding the governor himself from being invited by the anti-corruption agent. Who is saying the governor’s reasons for crying are not justifiable?
The current passing phase in the political life of Governor Adeleke is a great lesson for all mortals that power is transient and that when the bottom gets spoilt, the accompanying agony is felt only by the owner of the bottom. There is no amount of propaganda that can erase the undignifying and past deeds of Governor Adeleke from the minds of the right-thinking members of the society.
What is sacrosanct is that there is no way the fall of Governor Adeleke-led administration’s history is written without making an allusion to the negative contributions of Barrister Kolapo Alimi, the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation; Malam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke’s spokesman and Barrister Hashim Abioye, the controversial chairman of the state electoral commission(OSSIEC) who all brought into the government missions to settle personal scores with their known and perceived political enemies.
Rather than expanding the frontier of friendship for the governor, the above three men and the ever-garrulous state chairman of the PDP, Mr Sunday Bisi, has never been in tune, through actions and inactions, with the political reality on ground in the state.
